Ruven Afanador
I really liked the melding of minds between Ruven Afanador & Cuban artist Ruben Toledo for the Nordstroms Summer 08 ad campaign. Toledo painted the walls to create the series of black-and-white sets.
& some of the others are like a classical memento mori painting brought to life, or an Edgar Allan Poe, or Tim Burton-esque something or another. I like these a lot.

Detroit Disassembled
This book is a thought-provoking, visually stunning, quiet look at Detroit as she stands today. It is an incredible look at the city by Andrew Moore. I found it to be quite emotional in it's simplicity, for a coffee table picture book: the beauty of industry, the impact of man, the history, the solitude, the neglet, nature. Loved it.
